Dear Families,

Community Day is an opportunity for you to spend time with your child(ren) in their classroom.  Students will showcase work that they are proud of and spend time with you in a specials class (Art, Exploration Lab, Music, or PE) they selected.  There will also be a social-emotional learning activity.  Below is our schedule for the day.

If you plan to join us for this fun event, please RSVP HERE and we will preprint your visitor’s badge.  If you have never had your driver’s license scanned, please stop by the office before the event to get your license scanned and to avoid standing in long lines waiting for a visitor’s badge.

Make sure you check out the principals message each week for important updates!  http://www.kcsd96.org/p-principal/blog

Take Home Folders/Homework

Please check your child's Take Home Folder each and every night. Important correspondence, homework assignments, and monthly reading logs will be found in this folder. It is important that your child brings this folder to school each and every day.

*Students will have math homework some nights and are expected to complete it and bring it back to school the following morning. Students should practice their math facts (addition & subtraction) for about 5-10 minutes everyday. Students are encouraged to use Dreambox or Xtra Math on no homework nights.

*Please encourage your child to read at least 20 minutes every day. Reading calendars can be found in the virtual backpack on the Prairie website. Please turn in calendars by the end of each month.

Birthday Treats

Birthdays are a fun and special time! In order to ensure every child has a safe and fun time, please make sure all birthday treats are brought to Mrs. Strom's office for approval the afternoon before or morning of your child's birthday celebration. Click HERE to see what snacks are safe for our class. This list is the district's safe snack list that all classrooms must follow.

** Birthday Invitations**

Children who do not receive invitations may naturally feel hurt.  Out of courtesy to others, please do not send out-of-school party invitations for distribution at school unless inviting the whole class or all of the same-sex of students, based on students' identified gender.

Thank you!
